Haj Muhammad's endowments
The first item includes four documents attached to each other: In the first one, dated June 15, 1832, Haj Muhammad, known as Haj Aqa Buzurg Sahib, the son of Fazl Allah Sultan, endows a house and five shops to Ta‘ziyah performers, assigns his children as the guardians, and names Mirza Abu Talib (who has since passed away) as the overseer. Farkhundah Arvand to Muhammad Husayn Arvand, 1951
Farkhundah Arvand writes to her husband, Muhammad Husayn Arvand, recounting the way she noticed a tumor in her breast, her visits to the doctors, the electrotherapy sessions, and her irritability because of all this. She describes the treatment cost in detail and her need for money. She mentions that she cannot ask her brother since he is not there and describes her conversation with Muhammad Shafi‘, his initial unwillingness to give her her husband's salary and ultimate approval of sending her half of the next month's salary.
